Brake Pads

I'll be needing brake pads soon. Which ones do you guys like? The car is an '06 MCS. I drive it everyday and it sees 20 -30 autox days a year.

You'll get lots of opinions.

From my experience, with requirements similar to yours, I like the Ferrodo 2500s.

Used them on my first MCS for over 30,000 miles, and on my current one for over 24,000 miles. The best street/occasional auto-x/track day pads I've found for my use.

I do want to try the Hawk HP+, but it may be too far towards track use.

I just put the Ferodo DS2500 on my car. Their initial bite is like stock, which is good, and an improvement over the Hawk HPS which just came off. Hawk HPS are almost dustless, though, and did not seem to fade. Have not driven on track with the 2500's yet but do a search for them and you'll see a lot of people like them.

For combo pads I've used Mintex 1144's and Hawk HP+'s. Both are pretty dusty and kinda squealy (use a ton of antisqueal) but have excellent bite (even when cold, way better than stock) and can take the heat of a track day (you can get them to fade if you abuse them enough). Personally I'd pick the Hawk pads over the mintex, for the ferodo's I haven't used them but anyone that I've talked to about them for a track pad haven't had the best luck with them (these are the DS3000, not the combo DS2500); didn't stop as well as comparable Hawks and Performance Frictions and pad life was horrible (one person I talked to burned through a set on a weekend). Personally if you're going to stick to street driving I'd stay away from combo pads, the noise and dust aren't worth it in my opinion. If you're going to do a track day just by a set of track pads and switch them on site. Your rotor's will hate you but the friction level of a track pad is far superior to any combo pad you'll find.
