This was sent out originally by Kenn Lively of Mini's of the Rockies. I
thought I'd pass this along for you New MINI owners to check out. I won't
be able to attend, as I'll be in Canada (Banff/Jasper, Alberta) on a 2.5
week MINI road trip.

Dave

Here is the reminder and information about the upcoming drive. Please forward it to club members and other interested parties.

Thanks,
Michael Playle

What: The M.O.T.R "End of Summer" (August) drive.

Who: Open to all Classic Minis and derivatives, all New MINIs, and anyone else that would like to drive along.

When: Sunday, August 25, 2002. Gathering at 9:00 am for a 9:30am departure.

Where: Gather at the Safeway parking lot on Harmony Road in Fort Collins.
(Directions: From Denver metro area - drive up I-25 to the first Fort Collins exit - # 265 Harmony Road - and turn left onto Harmony Road. Go west about 3 miles on Harmony, the Safeway is on the right. Landmarks: Safeway gas pumps at the east end of the parking lot, a Village Inn restaurant at the west end and an IHOP restaurant across Harmony on the left.)

How: The drive will leave the Safeway parking lot and go west on Harmony to College Ave (Hwy 287) turning north onto College Ave. From there, the drive will go through downtown and out the north side of town following the combined hwy287/Hwy14 to Ted's Place. The drive will then turn left (west) onto Hwy14 and continue up the Poudre Canyon, across Cameron Pass to Walden for a planned stop to refuel (for the classic Minis especially) and a "leg stretch". The drive will continue from Walden heading south on Hwy125 to Granby for another stop for "people needs" as well as anyone that wants to top off their car before heading up Hwy34 across Trailridge Road to Estes Park where the drive will "officially"
end. Drivers will then find their own routes home from Estes Park after a "snack" break.

Other: Bring cameras and funds for lunch, gas, and Park entry fees. Park entry fee for crossing Trailridge is $15 for a pass good for 1 week. Lunch will be either in Walden or Granby. (To be announced at the drive start.)

Contact: Michael Playle at 970-207-0804 in the evenings.
