Who else is from Colorado?
To answer the original post: I live in Colorado, and I am definitely MINI afflicted...
-I have a new MINI : '03 S with sport and cold weather packages + a few more goodies.
-I bought the car in Kansas with 250 miles on the clock, from a guy who ordered it last November, took delivery on 10/15/02, and decided he couldn't afford to keep it.
, but hope to meet some other MINI(and Mini) motorers on Oct 27.

An Indi Blue S: yum. Looking forward to seeing that.
And yes, the Yalla Yalla will go on rain or shine. Motoring doesn't end just because it's nearly winter. I'll be sending out an e-mail today about it.

My Indi Blue Cooper is currently on the boat about halfway between Oxford, UK and Oxnard, CA. Due at Schomps around the end of November. Premium, Sport, Cold Weather, Xenons, Sport Suspension. Almost an S, but didn't want to wait that long. I work in Ft. Collins. There are about 4 MINIs in Ft. Collins, oddly enough. The first two appeared right around the end of March.
Anybody have any experiences with putting kids in the back seat of their MINI? Any car seat recommendations? My 2 guys are at the booster seat level.

Stewart,
Welcome to MINI COOPER Online (MCO). MCO is actually headquartered in Lafayette...just a few minutes south of you on the way to Denver. There are quite a few Colorado MINI owners (DaveInDenver, RandyBMC, MINIKing, Ficcion, and many more) here on the board so make yourself at home and get involved with some of the local events we'll be doing soon (we've already had some great events).
As for child seats I bought a pair of Simpson booster seats that my 4 and 5 year daughter ride in. They can't get enough of the MINI. They love taking curves in the car with the sunroof open

hey, I'm from denver. I have a new red S. I have been on a few rallys and have met a few other mini owners. I love the car, I had a corvette before I got my S and this mini is the best car that I have ever had. I bought my mini from Ralph Schomp.
Dave,
I have had my Cooper on order since July. Well I gave them my deposit at Schomp's the first week of July. Order was actually placed in late August and my MINI should be arriving in Port Hueneme on Friday 11/29/02. With luck I will have it by mid December. Red/Body color rooof/Black Kalido cloth, Premium Pkg, sport seats, fog lamps and several aftermarket goodies after arrival. I am having the clear bra and window tinting done at Flux Technologies in Aurora and certainly new 205-55-15 Yoko AVS ES 100's. I'm still waiting to determine the best aftermarket exhaust and intake.

Very cool. I'm glad to see a lot of people that have been waiting are getting their cars now. It would be nice if you get it before the 14th as we'll have the Alpine Rally Tribute that day. Whether you have your MINI or not, you should show up at the MINI Motorsports event and see some of the stuff Randy is going to be showing off.
You'll be motoring soon.

Karl,
welcome to MCO!
I totally understand the feeling about the wait at Schomp. If you're willing to travel, there are plenty of dealers with shorter lists than Schomp. I'd think International MINI in Wisconsin, Westchester MINI and MINI of the Hamptons (both in New York), and MINI of Murray in Utah. I got mine from Westchester MINI and flew out on a $200 ticket, picked up the car on a Friday and drove it back over the weekend. If you have any questions about that type of purchase, let me know.

OK. I expect I will have my new MINI next week. If any of you have stopped by Schomp you might have seen a beautiful Dark Silver/Black Cooper S sitting there for the past month. Well, it's mine (or my wife's if you ask her). I know it's been there a long time but YOU CAN'T HAVE IT!!!!
I got laid off two weeks before the car arrived but Aaron has been great waiting for me to work things out. I've finally got my finances in order to be able to get it next week!!!
I hope to make a drive sometime. I'll try to stick around to see what's going on.
After waiting a whole year, I'm so stoked. I've seen several Coopers here in Colorado Springs but I haven't seen an S. Maybe mine's the first in town.

Welcome to MCO! Sorry to hear about your job, but glad to hear Schomp is working with you.
I hate to break it to you, but there is already an Indi Blue/Black Cooper S in Colorado Springs belonging to Brad Mott. He got his from Westchester MINI in New York, so yours may be the first S in the Springs from Schomp.
Please consider joining MINI5280 We will be doing some MINI events this year in the Springs. Here is a post with some more information in it about MINI5280
Again, welcome. Hope to see you, your wife, and your S at one of the upcoming events.

Hey Dave,
First off, I am writing under my husband's username because he happened to be signed up first. I spoke with Kelly Peterson when he came to my work (Jared, the Galleria of Jewelry). The guard pointed out the red MCS and of course I had to talk to the owner. (I am anxiously awaiting the delivery of my new MC in chili red with white accents and all the packages and everybody knows it.) He mentioned that you were going to be having a gathering at Rock Bottoms on the 23rd. Would it be possible for my husband and I to join you guys? I have signed up for the club online but it might be easier to pay in person. Ray and I have moved to Denver from Chicago recently and don't know many people in the area and would love to meet some fellow mini enthusiasts. Could you let me know more about the event?
Thanks for the info and help.

Hi Keith
You will be one of the first MCS in Colorado Springs. I got my Pure Silver/Black MCS on Aug 14, 2002 from Ralph Schomp. I was on the waiting list, but happened to be at the dealer to order a MC. To my surprise, I was offered one off the lot. It didn't have any options, except the Pure Silver paint, so I guess no one on the waiting list wanted it. I added the roof rack with bicycle holder and a clear bra. It is a great little car and loves the mountians. I was very pleased with the sales staff a Ralph Schomp.

I signed up for the wiat list back in April, I think it was. Anyway, they called me last SEP and told me my name was at the top of the list. I wanted the H/K and Xenon options, so Logan said, "No problem, just come in after DEC and you can place your order". I placed my order for a Red/White MCS 28 DEC 2002. They claim it should be available in March sometime. I have set up my tracking on the MINIUSA web site, so I can follow its progress. When it comes in I hope to participate in some of the Denver area activities.
Any recommendations on the best break-in motoring roads in the area?

Well, I guess I'm not the first. I haven't seen the other's yet but, maybe, they haven't been driving around downtown and the westside.
I really can't wait.

Hi everyone, I have a MCS, electric blue/white, sport package. Had it since Memorial day. Got it by chance from the Land Rover dealer in Glenwood Springs, one of their salesmen had ordered it from Prestige Mini in NJ (apparently they are owned by the same people, he apparently had another child since it had been ordered and voila) It was just sitting in the garage bay, I took the following day off and came down the with both my previous cars to trade them in (tacoma and jetta) We are a one car family now.
Unfortunately getting over to the front range, is harder for me, are you having any events that might be closer this spring or summer? (btw, Independence Pass, straightened out alot since I got my Mini)

Dave, February 14 cannot get here soon enough. The dealer in Miami thinks they will have her by the 4th but I have already gotten plane tickets and planned for the week after the 14th. I am antsy as hell. I know "if I don't go to bed Santa won't come". But this website is not helping with my Jonesing at all. I already have a list of mods planned out......
Darksky:
I purchased my MINI in New York and drove it back to Denver. If you have any questions about registration of your MINI in Colorado, let me know as I have already been through the process. (shoot me an e-mail Dave@minicooperonline.com ).
Toowiley: MINI5280 is the motoring society of the Rocky Mountain region. We'll definitely be doing events in areas outside of Denver. I would look for events in Colorado Springs and Fruita for sure. Also, by all means if you have ideas for events in other parts of the state, feel free to shoot me an e-mail dave@mini5280.org I'd love to hear about any thoughts you had for good excuses to motor in the mountains.

I'm here, as opposed to being there
Live in S Denver, work in Thornton
Got Priscilla from Schomp on the 7th. She is BRG with a Checkerboard roof, rally lights and the heart of a race car
She joins Mehetabel ('73 RHD 109" 6cyl CSW Land Rover) and a stableful of bikes in this overgrown kids life.
Cheers

Hi,
I must have seen you going home from work yesterday at about University and Quebec. Definitely noticed the checkered roof. I was lucky enough to see to minis yesterday now if I could only see mine! It finally made it to the VPC but no work order date yet. Not sure if I'll make it til the end of the month or not.

Alright!!! I picked up my MCS late this afternoon. My wife let me drive it home but it doesn't look like I'll get to touch it for some time after this.
I don't know what everyone is talking about with the harsh ride with the sports suspension and the 17" runflats. I've been driving a 1987 and now a 2000 Ford F350 4x4 for the past 8 years. This Cooper S rides like a dream!!! Sure, it's not as soft a ride as the Lincoln I rented in California a few months ago but it certainly isn't "harsh". And who really wants soft?
I've done 3000 mile road trips in the truck, I could easily see doing double that (especially by staying on the two lane) in this car!

Hey Dave,
It was great meeting everybody at the RockBottom's gathering. Everything is in place for my car to be at the dealer 1/30 so by the next group meeting I will be sporting my own mini. One of the best parts was walking through the parking lot enjoying all the great mini variations.
