2nd place finish for Octane MINI on Canada day week-end
Octane Motorsport JCW MINI Cooper S finishes second at BARC Grand Prix Of Ontario
The first weekend of July is Canada’s National Holiday but this year was also the setting for BARC’s Canada Day Grand Prix of Ontario at Mosport International Raceway.
Beautiful weather greeted the participants and crowds throughout the weekend.
It was an uneventful week-end for the John Cooper Works Octane Motorsport MINI Cooper S. Starting form second place, the #47 MINI passed for the lead before the end of the second lap, where it would remain until the mandatory pit stop round started.
The JCW MINI stopped for fuel and driver change on lap 28. When the pit stop round was completed, the MINI Cooper S, bearing a MINI Original Accessory Canadian flag on its roof, giving a festive look to the car, was classified in second position. The leader in class did not require additional fuel for the entire 85 minutes duration of the race, and therefore was able to perform a shorter stop. These positions would remain until the end of the race, where our driving duo would finish in second position in T2 class and would end-up finishing 7th overall, out of 23 starting vehicles, also bringing home additional points for fastest lap in class.
Next race in the championship is Shannonville on July 15-16 for the 4th round of the Ontario Touring Car Championship for an event of an hour duration.
