Octane signs Sallenbach for 2010
Octane Motorsport announced today that Michel Sallenbach will join the team for the 2010 season. Michel will drive one of Octane Motorsport’s MINI Cooper for the duration of the 2010 Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship.
Octane Motorsport won the 2009 and 2007 Castrol Touring Car Championship in the hotly-contested Touring class.
Michel Sallenbach started his driving career in Switzerland in 1976 driving in Solo events. He is a graduate of the Jim Russell racing school. After a few races in karting, he started competing in the Toyota echo championship in 2008, finishing in second place for the last race of his rookie season. He also finished in second position of the 2009 GT6 FSAQ Championship with 6 podiums in 7 races, including 2 victories.
“Octane Motorsport has collected an impressive track record of results in the last three seasons of competition in the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship. Their professionalism should assist me in trying to compete for podium finishes after a few events. My driving experience in closed-wheel sedans is limited but we would like to aim for the Rookie of the Year title” mentioned Sallenbach.
“We are thrilled that Michel will be joining us for the entire 2010 season. We have tested together last September during the Fall Classic at Mont-Tremblant; the chemistry was obvious from this very first test and that’s important to us both. This paved the way to our 2010 collaboration. His Pole-Position in qualifying proved that he has what it takes to be successful in the Castrol Championship” commented Alain Lauzière, team principal of Team Octane.
The Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship 2010 season will start on May 22-23 at Mosport in Ontario. The Championship comprises 14 events throughout 7 weekends of racing.
