GoFast Sports MINI Cooper wins Toronto Indy

Alain Lauzière, driver of the GO FAST Sports- Octane Motorsport MINI Cooper S, crossed the finish line in first place in the Touring class, part of the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship race, that ran as a prelude to the Toronto Indy on Sunday July 12, 2009. “I would like to extend my gratitude to the GO FAST Sports energy drink management team who has agreed to support the Octane Motorsport MINI for the Toronto, Calabogie and Trois-Rivières races” mentioned Lauzière.

After starting in second position at the start, Lauzière managed to pass the leader, Anthony Rapone in the first corner, but would have to settle for second place a few laps after Rapone took command of the race back from Lauzière. Rapone was well on his way to a nice victory, but crashed his Honda Civic in the last corner leading to the finish line. “We are very sorry for Anthony, but we accept that chance was on our side today” mentioned the MINI Original Parts-sponsored driver.

A large portion of the Saturday race was run under yellow conditions after a number of on-track incidents. Lauzière would capture another podium, finishing in second place, the same position where he qualified.

The GoFast Sports-Octane team will be back on-track on July 25 & 26 at Calabogie Motorsports Park, in the suburb of Ottawa, the National Capital. The team’s participation is facilitated by the support of GO FAST Sports (energy drink), MINI Original Parts, Simone Performance Imports, Castrol Canada (Wakefield), Birchmount Collision, MINI Original Accessories, Cruisecanada.com, BULLY clutches and Betz pools.
Octane Motorsport is a privately owned and funded racing team based in Montreal, Québec.

Funny. Even more funny to do a press conference in front of 40 International journalists and 39 not even listening.....
