Updated pad discussion
Updated pad discussion
I searched here and found some very old posts on brake pads so I figured I would restart a probably hashed out discussion.
I'm running stock rotors and I'm trying to find the brake pads that will work well .... unfortunately, I'm asking too much ...
The car is a totally stock 2002 Mini Cooper S --- back seats are in, radio works, interior is installed ... it's not my daily driver.
My sister and I share the car, so on track days, there are two drivers ... we both brake aggressively (we are learning so we probably brake too hard) and often times the car goes on back to back sessions. We drive the car to and from the track.
I also autocross once a month.
The running consensus seems to be HP+ pads for front and rears ....
Thoughts?

not enough pad at all
you need to upgrade the pads to HT10's
you can get away with drivingto the track with them and home again, but not really the best pad for street if you are going to use it more then the drive there and home again.
I have this combo and it works great for good aggressive track use.
Stock Rotors - HT10 pads - SS lines - ATE Super Blue fluid
I have run the PBR Ceramics / HP Streets / HP Plus / Hawk blues
and run through them all in less then 1 weekend
so far the HT10s are on their 3rd weekend and still have pad, but probably will not last a full weekend
And one of the weekends was a 3 day stint at Daytona - so you are braking from 135 to 80 at two different places on the track, plus a bunch of medium speed braking on the infield.

digging up old threads is always fun... I plan on doing a HPDE at Limerock next month and was wondering about brake pads. I have the stock pads on the car now, with not many miles on them. Is it worth it to swap pads out for the day? I was thinking maybe putting some EBC greenstuff or maybe the Hawk HP+ or PBR ceramics. Not looking to break the bank for just one track day, but I figure I should at least upgrade from the stock pads. Any thoughts?
HP+ for me. Been very happy with them on the track and the drive around town. They will not stand up to track abuse, so as long as you are not hard on the brakes they will perform very well. Remember.....smooth is fast.
