Might be year/motor specific. What year/motor?

Recently performed a drain and fill on my R60:
  1. With engine and coolant cold, unhook the hose on the bottom of the radiator, open overflow tank to allow coolant to drain out
  2. There will still be coolant in the block and water pump, so reattach the hose and fill the coolant tank to the line
  3. Turn heat and fan on maximum, leave the overflow cap off, start the engine
  4. Watch the coolant level in the overflow and continuously top off to the line, this can take 10-15 minutes
  5. After level is stabilized, allow system to cool, then re-fill to line
  6. Drive car for 5-10 miles, then let cool and check level again

Since I didn't have a vacuum system to pull the coolant out of the block and pump, I repeated the process a week later after the new and old had plenty of time to mix.

Atlas8000, thank you very much!!!
I’m sure I can find online the exact location of the hose connection under the car but if you got photos to share that would be awesome. Any recommendations on what brand coolant is good?

Happy to help! I used Zerex G48 coolant. Took about a jug and a half to perform 2 drain and fills.

The hose is very accessible an visible when you jack up the front end. The fitting is held together with a clamp that is easy to remove. You can see it here:

Happy I could help! Don't stress about it, it's about the same level of difficulty as an oil change and doing it yourself saves a bunch of money over the dealer charge. Happy Thanksgiving!

So there's no bleeder valve? We're in the middle of this now and videos online show a bleeder to the right of the motor, but the hell if I can find it...
