How do I program a key for my 2012 Countryman.

I bought a used Countryman. But it only came with one key. How can I get another one without going to the dealership?

You can't.

You need to order one from the dealer or a reseller. They come pre-programmed from the factory, so the "programming fee"'charged by the dealer is crap.

A quick look at the bottom of the home page would have shown well over a quarter million threads and many more that 4 million posts. Any chance the question had already been answered? No snarkyness intended but gee whiz, there was a guy in here just last month asking the same thing.

You have to provide VIN, title and DL to a dealer in order to acquire a replacement key. They will accept that information by either fax or email. There's no other successful way around it.

It can be much cheaper to go through a reseller. My neighbor owns a few stores that specializes in genuine OEM replacement keys. Place an order at his store, he places the order at the dealer, they courier the key to his store when it arrives. You can easily save $$$$.

Programing fees only apply to a MINI equipped with Comfort Access. When a car takes up a paying repair space hooked to BMW computer, its dead lift not earning $ for almost an Hr.

I searched programming key, replacement key in the search bar but no solution showed up. I even googled it with no solution.
