Clear codes

2012 Countryman. I recently got a check engine light and read it with a scanner. It showed P0597 "Thermostat Heater Control Circuit/Open". Everything I read on the forums said the thermostat needs to be changed. After changing thermostat check engine light is gone but when I read it with a scanner it still showing the P0597. How can this be cleared? I've tried clearing with scanner, going through the "secret" menu on cluster 21 to clear, and I have disconnected the battery. None of these will clear it. Does Mini have to clear it?

I think some codes clear themselves after problem is fixed, requires a certain amount of driving. Not sure if this one fits that category. This happened to me with some emissions related codes that went away after 50-100 miles.

Kool. Thanks for the info. I'll just wait it out and see if it clears.
