Start/Stop Button Intermittent Problem R60

I thought I would post on a recent start/stop button CM issue for those who may be experiencing it as well. For several weeks, I was not able to start my CM with the key in the slot but it WOULD start using comfort access. Odd I know. Occasionally, it would start with the key in but like most of us with comfort access, I rarely insert the key.

Another odd issue was that I had to press and hold the button for about 2 seconds for the car to turn off. This occurred intermittently. Sometimes it worked perfectly, other times, it was as if the ignition was possessed.

I finally took it in to the Montgomery Co. MD MINI dealer who ran a scan and found a fault with the Start/Stop button and ignition mechanism. It was covered under warranty and is being replaced as I write this. The dealer said they had never seen this issue before and I could not find any reference to it on this forum. If it is happening to you, be sure and take your car in and have them run a scan.

Hope this helps someone else who is experiencing something similar.
