Was there any recall for solenoid and wiring harness for the All4? I went to the dealership yesterday for maintenance service, and the dealership told me that I have a leak and that they needed to change a solenoid and the wiring harness. How do MINI issue recalls, do they let the owners know by mail or something or they just wait for something to go wrong?

 

it is not a "recall"

it is a known problem, there is a service bulletin or service letter (not sure of mini terminology) to repair any solenoids found to be leaking

my 3/12 build all4 has had it replaced, my sisters 09/11 build all4 has not

mini will not proactively replace it, only if found leaking

 

ah, i see. Its just that I didnt even know that its leaking till they told me.

 

i did not know either ... no drops on the garage floor, no oil usage ....

my dealer has 2x a year free inspections ... about 45 minutes worth, but the best part is you can go into the shop bay with your car and the mechanic and look yourself

last fall, he found oil weeping at the solenoid and we scheduled the car in the next week to replace it

i was told the replacement part was a redesign
