I bought this mini countryman base model 3 months ago , my current mileage is 1200 miles and I've noticed a rattling sound when I starts the engine in the morning and goes away when engine gets warm. I spoke with mini service and told me this is normal. What is wrong with it?

It's not a problem. That's what variable valve timing sounds like. Kind of sounds like a diesel.

 

I was under the impression the noise that sounds like "diesel clatter" is the direct injection system. I've had variable valve timing on several other cars, and they never sounded like this.

 

Oh, you're right, it's the injectors. Brain fart this morning.
