Comfort access heads-up.

Relating an issue we had with the CM locking all the doors: Wife informs me that the she discovered that when she locked the car with the FOB, or the door handle button, the doors locked, but the boot remained open. I tried it and she was right. Called the MA and asked if it was some kind of computer option, to which he said that it wasn't, bring it in. Next day we went in, and the female service mgr. checked it out, and quickly diagnosed the problem. It turns out that the boot won't lock up if you're within 30 feet of the car with the FOB. So now you walk away and then lock it, hoping it's locked, or else walk back to check it. There may be a good reason for this, but it seems to be a little over-engineered.

Hmm I may need to test this on my MSC. With the key fob in range its hard to tell if the boot is locked or unlocked without grabbing the handle.

Easy test, lock it and take the battery out of the FOB and try to open the boot.

Isn't this the whole point of comfort access? Being able to open the boot without having to use your key sounds like comfort access to me.

Are you also mad that you can hit the small rubber button to unlock the doors any time the key fob is in range?

I have comfort access and I'm not sure I understand the issue here. First off, I never lock or unlock the car with the fob. I always use the the rubber button. When you get out of the car and lock it using the button on the door handle, it locks both door and the hatch. That's what I want to happen. Was there something wrong with your car that it wasn't doing this? Like I said, I don't think I'm understanding the issue here. The problem I was having was that the hatch will only unlock if both doors are unlocked (not just the driver's door). I had to play with the settings for a while to make it so that when I pushed the rubber button it unlocked both doors and therefore the hatch as well.

Hold the handle up for about a second and you'll hear it unlock, that's how it works. On the other hand, anyone else suffering from VERY poor remote control range on their comfort access fobs? And I mean when you're using the buttons. Both my fobs don't work beyond 5-10 yards, believe it or not. My golf unlocks almost 100 yards away.

With mine it didn't matter if you used the fob button or the door handle button, to lock the car. As long as you had that fob on you, and close to the car, say 25 feet, it left the boot open. use the fob 30' away, and she locked up. Service mgr. said that was the way it was designed.
