Oil level - not easy

New to me Countryman, 49k,
checking the oil level “seems” overfilled? But then again this dipstick kinda sucks right?
any thoughts?

The dipstick is a horrible design.

I use the trick where I wipe it off, then insert it only up to the yellow base, so not all the way in. Do that three times wiping each time, then finally insert all the way to measure.

That method gets rid of the oil from the tube that gives you a false reading.

Or get the craven speed. $

Thanks, yeah, read some pros and cons about the craven....and some tips on putting some marks in the oem stick. Ill try your trick though and see if I get a better read.

They have a flexible dipstick on eBay. It has a end with holes. Easy to read. Think $15 or less. You have to cut it about 1 inch or so from them top depending on application. Take a look. Only problem is that the handle is metal and gets hot when checking when engine is hot,
