Sandwiched :(

Hey all! So last Friday, I was hit at a stop light and sandwiched between two cars. Surprisingly my car didn’t take at much damage as I thought it might, nonetheless less, it took the most damage from this accident between the 3 cars. From what I can visually see, I need a new rear bumper, and new front bumper, a new hatch. That’s not including what happened on the inside. So I kbb’d the price of my car and I’m worried the cost would outway or equal the price of my car. It’s a 2012 Mini Countryman, base model. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks guys!

Doesn't look too bad. Assuming no mechanical damage or airbag deployment you should be well under value.

Sorry too see. I've been hit twice already. First time was a hit-and-run in a parking lot ($3k repair), second was a side-swipe on the freeway (will be $2K-3K repair). Got lucky both times as it wasn't much damage, but was just expensive to fix (newer model).

My wife's brand new '15 CM had the same encounter with only 400 miles on the clock. The offender's insurance restored everything. Shouldn't the liability insurance of the head-up-his-**** idiot that caused your damage be putting yours back together?

For me...Their insurance and mine are the same company. It was faster to work through my policy and have the company sue themselves to deal with getting reimbursed by the offender's policy. Either way, I pay nothing :-D

Not sure how Elliotts will deal with being sandwiched.

Doesn't matter who's insurance company he goes with, if they total the car out, it's a wash. My wife's car was just totaled by an idiot making a left into on-coming traffic, Book value was $14.5K , $11k to fix, I wanted to get it fixed so that I wouldn't have to put out the extra cash to get a new car. Both insurance companies totaled the car. StateFarm/AllState,

Depends if "Elliotts" rear-ended the car ahead first and then was rear-ended by the car behind. If so, the car at the rear pays for his own front end and Elliotts rear-end damage and then Elliotts pays for his front end damage as well as the car at the front of the line. Things are a bit different if you are in a 'no-fault' state or province.

If you can show that you were rear-ended and pushed into the car ahead, then the last car in line gets handed the costs of repair for all 3 vehicles but as 'gumbedamit' opines, if its determined to be a constructive total then they will not fix it.

Usually you will know immediately if you are thought to be at fault because you are issued a citation if the police were involved. Another accident where my wifes car was totaled, (she's a magnet). There was a car stopped in front of her in a 2 lane road, driver in front was making a left traffic stopped, guy ran into the back of her, pushed her car into the car making the left. Police on scene issued her a citation, went to court to fight it, which we won which is very important to take care of first , this is used to help determine monetary compensation. SO, if he was issued a citation, see a lawyer about getting it dropped.

Late but anywho

they ended up totaling it so. I purchased a 2014 Countryman S for a round the same price I purchase this one for. Maybe it wasn’t meant to be. Still a pain in the rear end though

That really sucks, but on the bright side you got into a little bit newer S model! Bonus!

I feel your pain... except mine was a 6 car crash on the interstate. Actually a 3 car crash in front of me, that I got stopped before being involved in... But the two cars behind me didn't stop and pushed me into the accident. Goodbye Clubman... :(
