Engine code for Countryman Non-S & Service interval question
Hey all,
A couple quick questions.
I do realize the countryman S came out with the new N18 engine and it is mostly free of timing chain mess
but.. what about non-S countryman? I can't seem to find that many info about em.
I am asking as my wifey's CM has been making rather unpleasant 'rattling' noise during cold-start. However the rattle goes away after a few mins of warm-up
Also, service interval that is displayed in her car has been stuck at 1400 miles for a while. It has not decreased for the past 1000 miles or so?
Any thoughts & info would be really appreciated!

I also have a non-S Countryman (a 2012). I may be wrong, but if I remember correctly, the non-S cars have the n-16 engine. All of the engines are direct injection and have the "Valvetronic" system in them. This automatically adjusts the valves. At startup, the clatter is the sound of the adjusting taking place. It's more pronounced when it's cold outside, but it does stop after a few minutes.
With regard to the service intervals, my car is at the dealer's right now getting serviced (I have 35,500 miles and the free maintenance runs out in 500 miles). it was stuck on 2200 miles for about the last month and a half, but my Service Advisor was able to scan the key to determine what the car needed anyway (rear brakes, engine scope, cabin air filter, top off fluids). Apparently, they key data, more than the mileage countdown, is what determines the services performed. If you have Comfort Access, make sure you stick the key into the dock on the dash for the trip to the dealer so that it gets the most current information.
