We have the standard Bluetooth, not the MINI Connected. We have paired the iPhone 4 with the system and can hear the phone ring, but neither of the two buttons on the steering wheel seemingly does anything to answer the phone. Am I missing something?

 

Well, the obvious answer is . . . maybe.

You up north people do have your share of difficulties. I checked the Owner Lounge videos and BT specific owner's guide and came up with a blank. You might want to check the owner's guide there to see if you hit all the steps. Meanwhile - do the buttons on the radio function correctly? And can you use voice command? Might narrow the problem down to either the vehicle or the phone. And, when in doubt, un-pair it and start over.

Can't voice call either. It speaks to us, but it won't make the call. I gather you say a name in your address book, like "call Peter Griffin" and it should dial?

 

Who's Peter Griffin? I've got an old Razr, so you're beyond me. If you are in the telephone screen, you should be able to push the voice button for a list of options you can voice command.

I wonder if since your bluetooth microphone is on the wrong side it's not picking up your voice..

Switch it to the correct side and see if that helps.

 

For voice dialing to work you need to first program the names and numbers into the system. Sadly, it does NOT automatically pickup the names from your address book,

As for the other issue, not sure why the steering wheel buttons do not work. When you receive a call does everythign else seem to be working, that is do you hear the ringing through the car speakers? Does the radio console switch to phone mode and give you the optin to answer via the radio buttons/preset buttons? If so will do those buttons work?

I'd make sure all the basics work, and if its just the steering wheel buttons that don't work, It'd take to the dealer. If the functions don't work off the radio interface then it could be its not quite paired right or something.

 

I'll check this when I get home. Didn't realize you had to add the numbers into the system and didn't check the buttons on the radio.
