R56 JCW CAI in R60

i'm looking for a few opinions...

i've been looking at cai mods and to be honest, i'm not crazy about what i'm seeing for a couple reasons, 1. i'm not crazy about open air intakes and 2. i'm not sold on oiled filters. let's leave those there for now.

it appears the JCW CMS is not going to get a modded air box, but just use a K&N dropin filter (see 2 above). as far as aftermarket CAIs the LARGE majority are open air (see 1 above) this makes me look at the R56 JCW CAI package. talking to Way at Way Motor Works, he seems to think this is a viable option (altho a little more expensive than aftermarket) but the bottom portion of the intake box on my R60 would need to be swapped out with one from a R56 and he's pretty sure it would work. Doing this fulfills 1 and 2 above, it lets me use a closed air box and doesn't require an oiled filter.

opinions.. input.. ideas ?

Thought about doing the same. Sewell parts sells the whole kit and kaboodle (bottom and top portion) for a reasonable price. Thing is, I'm just not sure what moving from a panel filter to a cone/cylinder really gets you. The limit is still going to be the amount of air that can get into the airbox. DoS has a good offering that costs roughly what the JCW does, but its not on the market yet and there's no telling when it will be.

I was hoping the JCW CM would have a better intake than the standard one that I could swap in place of my current VIP one. That or the DoS one, but I don't know if it's ever coming out.

i agree hujan, i'm not sure what the benefits of the cylinder vs panel would be either at this point since everything is still restricted by getting the air to the box. but it gives a base line of what is being compared. now what can be compared is R56 stock intake vs R56 jcw intake, are there improvements ?...

This makes 3 of us. I was told they were just waiting on the filter manufacturer and that was like 2 months ago.
