Help: Replacing shift ****, pulled boot from base

Help please!

I tried to remove the stock **** and when I pulled the ****, being attached to the boot, the front portion of the boot pulled away from the front of the base (see attached photo).

Has anyone had any experience with putting the boot back into the base? Als, how do you removed the boot from the ****?

Thanks,
Alan

I've replaced shift boots on 3 R50s, and R53 and an R60.

The ring around the shift boot base just pops off with a little force, work around slowly and you'll get it off.

Once you have it off, you see that if you turn the boot inside out, there's a zip-tie around the top of the boot to hold it onto the shift rod or the shift know handle. If you want to remove the boot, snip that zip tie. Resecure it using another zip tie, of course.

When you're ready to resecure the bottom of the shift boot, you'll see the little tabs that the boot connects to.

Then just pop the ring back on.
