R59 Improved wind deflector
Improved wind deflector
Hi all,
I've been thinking about replacing the wind deflector in my roadster. I actually quite like the OEM one, but by partner has poor eyesight and really does not like looking through the deflector.
At the moment I just remove it for her when she drives, but this is a bit of a pain.
The solution I've been thinking of building would be something similar to this one (very sorry if it is against rules to post to another forum!):

I thought this would have two benefits:
1) Increased visibility,
2) It would not only block the gap between the two roll bar "hoops" but also the smaller gaps in the middle of each one where the headrest is.
What I wanted to ask is this; Has anybody done this themselves or seen it done? Are there potential downsides to this solution (I've been told by someone that the mesh wind deflector works because is allows some wind to move though it and this is needed to stop buffeting)? The post in the above link doesn't seem to mention this.
Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

Personally don't like the look of the plexiglas one in the link. Not being made for the vehicle. I can't believe it wouldn't have some rattle or vibration.
While we're on the topic, is the $250.00 windscreen that came with the 2012 models any different from the small folding plastic one that came free (???) with the 2013?

Yes it's the same they raised the base cost to cover the semi-auto top and wind deflector etc.
I will have to try this blocking the headrests. I always where a baseball cap so doesn't bother me but the wife's eyes get dry an her hair gets messed up a little
