The JCW Coupe diary.........3000 miles....
Another milestone on the odometer with the 3000 miles mark two days ago during my drive to a business appointment in the valley. It is pretty chilly here in the desert and the car performs well without the issues I have encountered during last summer. Here are my latest comments about the ownership journey of my JCW coupe.
First, the MPG has greatly improved. Since November, I drove mainly on the freeway and I have reached the 26/32 MPG stated by the manufacturer. I don't expect it will be better and i suspect the quality of gas in nevada has to do with it. Furthermore, I drive more aggressively to bring the performance from the package. The brake dust issue has greatly improved and I am grateful and in same time time the pad sticking from backing off.
I am more accustomed to the basic nature of the car and the accessories but the design and operation of the A/C controls is mostly a no sense and a big draw back that maybe a serious consideration if I will keep the car or not. I can live with no leather seats and basic audio but cabin comfort is not easy to modulate.
At least, I really appreciate the driving position and the seats comfort on long distance driving because of the ample leg room of the Coupe. I still believe it is one of the best attributes with phenomenal handling qualities.
Lately, I observed some paint issues developing on the hood. They look like fractures in the top coat just in the middle. I will have the dealer to take care but I am sure they will have to strip the entire hood for a new paint job......... here in town, it will take at least 2 weeks.
My overall feeling about my ownership until now........
Well, mixed feelings of satisfaction and frustration but overall I enjoy it for what it is: an expensive economy car.
