Headlight Washers

Anyone added the washers afterwards?
I have the Xenons and the hardware seems to be in the headlight, but there is no connection to the washer unit! I know when you do the buildout its a zero cost to add, can't understand why they didn't do it.

Now I am wondering
  1. how much $ and how hard will it be to do it
  2. Is it worth having? My '02 S had it and I thought they were fine.

I am glad they give you the option. I have the washers on my '06 and it wastes tons of fluid and drips all down the bumper. I was always adding fluid to the tanks. The washers are just not necessary.

Always found headlight washers to be a gimmick that wastes washer fluid. Without a wiper, the fluid doesn't do much.

They came standard on my 06 Coopers and after one accidental use, I was careful never to use them again. All they do is leave spots on your bonnet and bumper cover. Do. Not. Bother.

Update

So here is the update. Apparently even though the hardware is in the light unit, it can't be retrofitted. I translate this from dealerspeak to mean "its a pain in the **** and more trouble than its worth".
Thanks for the feedback though I have pretty much decided to let it be, I'd rather not deal with the mess.

Another thing I notice is that the washers continue to "ooze" fluid if I have been driving hard and the bonnet temp is hot. Might be time to look into the heat insulation.

I think my xenons have washers under a panel lower inner edge, and I swear I've never seen any evidence that they have ever turned on. Maybe there's a setting that turns them off entirely.
