R58 Driver side door not closing?
Driver side door not closing?
I'm just about at 1000 miles on my Coupe and I love everything about it. One thing I did notice was that the driver's side door latch is either out of alignment of the lock movement is too stiff. About 30 percent of the time when I pull the door closed, it doesn't pull tight. No problem on the passenger side. I will be taking it in to my dealer, but just wondered if anyone else had a similar problem?
The doors are solid on all the Mini's I've been in, very unlike pretty much every American car I've ever owned. If you don't give the doors a good pull they'll sometimes only latch part way. This seems especially true the newer the car is. My Coupe is/was the same but I chalked that up to being used to shutting the tinny lightweight doors of my Jeep Liberty for so long. The doors themselves don't seem to be out of alignment.
Yes to the driver's door not always fully latching and agreed with the comment that MINI doors are heavy and not always as willing to stay open when I need them open. For such a small car, the doors seem big in both thickness and in length. Seems like I have to swing the door fairly wide to get out.
First time mine didn't latch all the way I thought the seatbelt had gotten caught in the door. I've noticed the partial latching while closing from both the inside and outside.
