Whatever the reason for the low price, it's a low price and there's a lot of value there, but like I said, I can't wait for my MCS to arrive...just sayin'.

I have owned KIA's (same same for all matters) and for those that follow Grand-Am street tuner division both Mazda, KIA and VW have been beating up on Mini's for the last few years. But now that Mini has been allowed to use a different ECU to stop the limp mod problem, they have come back and been giving everyone a run for their money. You all do know Kia took first in driver and in team this year.

With that said, I stand by Selder statement.

1. Velocter is a good value for the bells and whistles you get.

2. The Beatles can be made to go like a Bat out of H*lll just don't try and turn it at those speeds.

3. Coupe/Mini out of the box endless smiles.

In closing if you want to compare something then compare the Genesis Coupe with the 2lt CVVT, that had more originality then the cheaper Velocter. Hummmm I wonder if Hyundai's sales were up across the board 20 plus % for the year?

Geez, if you guys are this defensive about the Velocter, I wonder what will happen when a true comparable car is released, ie, the Abarth unveiling on Nov. 16th.

Not even a comparable car for those folks who are over 6' tall. I went to look at a 500 just to see what I was "missing". I walked away with "nothing" as an answer. Glad to see relative competition though.

/personal rant
I hate that being tall/big eliminates me from buying regular clothes (need tall) or regular shoes (size 17). If a darn MINI can fit me and others together, why can many other, larger cars not fit me? Yet I can go buy a MINI and fit just fine.
/end tall rant

Some find it difficult (if not impossible) to admire another car without feeling like a traitor. It doesn't mean that you think less of your MINI to acknowledge that Hyundai may have another hit on their hands.

I am not personally interested in the Veloster, but I predict that the "younger" crowd will buy it. In my case, nearly everyone is part of the younger crowd.

Now don't be insulted. I didn't say your daughter has a big nose and her teeth are crooked.

But what if she does and they are?

At 5'10", I don't have the same problem as you, yetti. However, I can sympathize, as I have test driven both the Minis and 500, and felt much more confined than I do in my 1990 CRX. I don't get why new cars have to leave me more claustrophobic, with their tight spaces, small windows, horrible outward visibility, etc. It's an odd "improvement" trend that I wish would reverse itself.

I find it ugly, but my comment was joking about how many people think the MINI Coupe is also ugly. I'm a huge MINI fan, but still able to admire other (small) cars. In fact, I owned a FIAT 500 for six months this year.

We should welcome more small cars; if they're unique and sporty, then that's even better.

The Veloster is what I like to call "over-styled."
