The Mini Coupe that shall remain nameless

We picked up our Silver over Chili Red Mini Coupe last Thursday. It is a minimal Mini with the Justa engine,
standard sound system and little to distinguish it except that it is the coolest car on the road. Here's a pic.

It is my wife's commuter scooter so it does have heated seats which, ironically, are cool too.
It's nice to crank the heater and the heated seats, roll down the windows and cruise for burgers.
What can I say? We are just like those supermodels in the glossy magazine at the dealership.

Here's another pic.

If I ever get it for a weekend when The Dear One is out of town, those brake calipers might have to get painted red.

"I drove through the desert in a Coupé with no name, it felt good to be out of the rain..."

Sharp lookin' MINI. With the black wheels, you're right- the calipers are screaming for paint. Good call.

Nice car.

Maybe later on the TR8 pics. Right now it is in a carbureator-induced coma and I'm also restoring a house, so the "DHC" TR8 might come out in the Spring (like the Mini Roadster). Right now, we have the new "FHC" to keep us amused.

Extra points to anyone (other than ACEKraut11) who can figure out those abbreviations....

I am getting the hint that you and I are the only ones who care what an FHC or a DHC is...

Due to a total lack of popular demand

Ok, I hate to leave a pointless job unfinished.

FHC is the abbreviation for a Fixed Head Coupe i.e. The Mini Cooper Coupe is an FHC.

DHC is what the marketing geniuses at British Leyland would have called the upcoming Mini Cooper Roadster. It stands for Drop Head Coupe.

BMW is to be commended for leaving some British automotive ideas in the file cabinet.

For what it is worth, I do care! Although I will admit, it has a more nostalgic ring to it when it is used in reference to a 60 or so year old Jaguar then a modern car.

Thanks, Acekraut. Even though the Mini is about as British as a pair of Leiderhosen made in Oxfordshire, it is fun to reflect on its roots. We are really enjoying the Coupe, though I wish it had a bit more power. If I get the TR8 DHC back on the road, maybe I won't be so tempted by the new Roadster?

Owning the TR6 is exactly the reason I was not even interested in looking at the convertible. That and I like the looks of the R53 better. But I knew that I would drive the TR6 less if I could get a similar experience in a modern car.

And as much as people talk about how much they like the sound of the MINI exhaust, it does not even come close to the sound of the straight six on the TR6, IMHO.
