too expensive? well i guess its just a matter of personal preference. I'd rather spend the $ on run flats and never worry about a thing when it comes to flats. its another thing to save some coin and then worry about lugging around a spare tire, jack, etc. then if it happens be stuck on the side of the road changing a tire with traffic whipping by you probably at the worst possible time too when your in a hurry to get somewhere....just a thought
I'm a little bit of a special case. Used to work in a garage, and I can usually plug a tire in under 5 minutes. No spare for me- 12v compressor, plug kit, and a bottle of tire slime as a backup.
And no, tire plugs are not dangerous or unreliable when properly applied, which includes knowing when NOT to use one.
FYI, when I went to the parts department at my local dealership, the counter rep said they had very little documentation on parts for the R58. No accessory catalogs, etc. Only the exploded-view OEM parts catalog on the PC. Actually took a few minutes to determine that the R58 uses the same arm rest as the R56.
Hopefully this info will be on the web for us soon.
I had run flats on my 05 MCS and on my 2010 MCS. I will keep them on my Coupe too, I'm almost 68 yrs old (1/2012) and too lazy to start changing flats.Bytheway I bought a runflat replacement policy for my 2010 MCS for $175.00 at Discount Tires.
I put the run-flats from the coupe on the lease I turned back. Then BF Goodrich g-Force Super Sport tires....a/s, v-rated, (205/55/16)....went on the coupe.
I'm interested in whether you can get 2 golf bags in that boot. I couln't care less about the spare tire/runflat debate (I ditched my RFs after they wore out and just have a pump/goo/flat fix under the passenger seat). The golf bag thing is key for me!
When I picked up my Coupe the salesman specifically said he got two golf bags in the boot without having to use the pass through flap. Didn't see it with my own eyes but the boot is pretty big for a MINI.
Cool. I tossed that "hide the boot" thing on my Mini. I have to cross the bags in my R56. There's a demo Coupe in Scottsdale (S Auto). Next time I'm down there I'll go drive it.
