Anyone carry a bike inside their cabrio?

I've been waiting for a hitch mounted bike rack to come out for the '11 cabrio and even tried a company's prototype which didn't quite work, but so far nothing's come out. I have a mountain bike sitting here gathering dust and I'd like to take it out and ride it but without a rack I'm not sure how to transport it.

Has anyone carried a bike inside their cabrio? If so, how did you do it without scratching or damaging the interior?

I have carried a bike in the back seat of a cabrio. Mountain Bike.
First drop the top...
Second, I took off the front tire. Then, any part of the bike that touches the car I wrapped a towel around to prevent scratching.
It's pretty easy getting it in & out, but not the best solution...especially if you want to close the top.

I hope that helped & just be careful.

Did you have the back seats folded down or were they in the normal position?

Normal position, seat backs up-right.
With the seat backs down, the bike didn't sit as low and wasn't as stable.
I never had any problems with the bike resting on the leather. No scratching, tearing or stretching has ever been noticed.
I don't do it often, I've done this about 15x over a few years with no ill results.
