WOW

Jeff,
The MINI looks awesome! I was at DisneyWorld last year and it's the best place to take pics of the car. I'm glad everything worked out for you. Once you get the black driving lamps installed and get the windows tinted, it will be even better!

Thanks for posting the pictures. I'm looking for my LB/W around May 12th. I also ordered white wheels -- glad I made that choice having seen your picures.

Happy motoring!

Ok, so favorite Mini events so far:

Saturday, I'm out driving, and the toll-booth taker takes my money, and then says, "Hey, that's a beautiful car." I proudly announced taking ownership the day before and he says, "A car that beautiful will take care of you if you take care of it. Drive safe!" Wow that was cool.

And then... today, I am driving south on A1A south of Vero Beach and I'm on a 4-lane stretch when I look to my left and see a kid in the shotgun seat of his mom's suburban taking photos of my car with his camera phone! I am CERTAIN that never happened when I drove my Honda! The suburban got a little ahead of me, and I caught up as they were making a left turn. Sure enough, the kid's waiting for me to catch up and has the camera on his phone ready to snag another photo. I flash a big dorky grin and a thumbs up and drive off. The grin stuck around for a few more miles...

Today was a great driving day. Put about 300+ miles on the car, and my positive experiences continue. The SatNav was SO helpful, helped us find our way in numerous towns new to us, as well as locating the nearest gas station (93 octane from Sunoco was the first drink I bought it) AND a shoppping mall for new shorts, despite not knowing the town at all we were there in 10 minutes with a little help from the lady trapped inside my SatNav.

Off to bed. Cleaned the car good before unveiling it at work tomorrow. The kids are gonna be thrilled. Gotta keep those wheels white!

Jeff,

Wake up. I have the answer to your question about the boot release. Hmm, but it is past midnight your way.

Yes, you should be able to pop the release by pushing up on the rubber bumps above the license plate. You should only have to press for about a second or less. Try giving more pressure as you press up.

I've found mine opens from either the left or right side of the strip. Haven't had any problems getting it to respond.

Good luck and congratulations on finally getting your car. I can tell from your writing that all of the frustrations that had been building up for the past month have left you. Good riddance.

I'm just curious because I want do the British Voice Hack

and want to change the icon from the boring triangle to a picture of my mini.

Then when you get the upgrade for the ipod, could you post if the version has changed? I'm just curious what the factory/VPCs are putting in cars and what dealers have.

Didn't see anything there about 2007 navi systems??

VEEEERY NICE!

Your car looks great, nice choice of options and yet another "one of a kind"

The only thing I wished they would've done with the Tuscan interior is trimmed out the seats in black, you know where the carbon inserts would be if it were leathette, make that part black to accent the dash and rest of interiorbut still, looks great!

Have fun keeping those white wheels clean and check into those turn signal bulbs for the rear that are clear when not in use and light up orange when in use, makes the tailights looks so much better than they already are

Congrats!

Thank you thank you thank you.

My MA got back to me about the garage door opener, I'll try it some more when I get home. I'm going to fool around with the tailgate latch later and see if it's something I'm doing wrong, or a deeper issue.

My students love the car... they have so many questions! It's amazing to me what kids ask, it makes me wonder why the conversations don't take place at home. I think parents think kids aren't interested, but it's amazing the things they DO want to know about.

Lynn, when you say it isn't working, can you be more specific? I have found so far that it is pretty responsive to what I say, although it does seem to get confused once in a while.

Klasse, I agree the tuscan would have been great in a lounge leather variant. I would definitely have gotten it! I absolutely LOVE how the anthracite pulls everything together and brings the lighter grey down to just an accent color. With the beige seats, I really enjoy the contrast.

Coop, already on SSM under the same name. In fact, I posted my photos/writeup there as well in the introductions thread on Friday. I've been on there for months, but didn't have a Mini to discuss!

Bludy, I'll look into the Nav question later today and get the version number. It would be nice to find a place where the latest version number being installed is posted so we know if our cars need software updates. I would imagine for a while yet, they will make minor tweaks and improvements to the UI and functionality.

Jeremy, my antenna topper is missing today! Either it got ripped off or, more likely, flew off my car while I went zipping north on the Florida Turnpike last night. I wanted a new one anyway, the old one had bugs in the teeth.

Azn, you get down to Disney again I expect a PM! :-)

And finally, Gforce, the license plate holder is obviously the dealer's own, or did you mean the plate? The plate is just one of the literally 100+ specialty plates available in Florida, I happen to like supporting dolphin protection.

Mine works. Doesn't recognize all of my words, but does OK.

LynnEl, please go back into your post and remove the images and most of what Jeff wrote in his original post. It will make it lots easier to manuever through this thread. Thanks.

Nothing happens when I push the button. No tone and doesn't respond. I do have it activated in set-up.

Glad it worked out. I guess the early storm clouds over your MINI make the eventual sunshine all the sweeter. Definitely worth it. And from what I can see of your pictures on my rather dim monitor, it looks like the aero kit match turned out perfectly in the end. Congratulations!

Very nice photos of a very nice car. I have virtually the same interior (with Oak added), no NAV, and I too drove it all over central AZ for no reason after taking delivery a week ago. Question: what you having done to shade the sunroof (the Florida sun probably does a number on you)? And you mentioned mylar for the windshield...what's that?

Wow! Great looking car.

Someone made a comment regarding keeping your white wheels clean (by the way, they look sharp). Mine aren't white but to keep my car looking good I'm having to clean my wheels at least twice a week. You may even find it easier with the white because the surface is less porous. The brakes on this car are great, but the price we pay for that greatness is more brake dust grime than is found on the average wheel.

Fantastic photos of a wonderful car.

Congratulations.

I've been following this purchase of yours from the beginning and am glad to see that at long last it has turned out well.

I wish you many miles of happy motoring in that sweet looking ride.

the car has to be completely unlocked ( including the passenger side too) then just hold down the boot latch and it should pop open.

thumbs up for you and the car!!

Yea, I think the tailgate may not be broken. I can hear the lock disengage but the latch doesn't do anything no matter what. Thanks though.

I really appreciate everyone's kind words. I volunteered to do all the family errands today just to spend some extra time driving around. SOOO fun. I love driving around the Disney area in it in particular. People from all over the world, and many point and look as I go by... in a good way for once! :-)

That's not true. I've opened the boot with both the doors locked and unlocked. It works both ways.

One more thing, how do upload such large photos? What size are they?

I have the photos uploaded to my website's gallery, and then linked here, so the file size isn't limited by what NAM allows users to upload.
