acoustic signal during locking/unlocking

The manual states that you can program the car to have an acoustic signal sounds during locking/unlocking on page 20-21. My car does not have the option to select for these acoustic signals. The service person just told me that I had to have an alarm to have these signals.

I find that odd since so many cars have the horn beep when locking/unlocking without an alarm. Thats how I usually find my car in a crowded parking lot.

Does anyone else know if these acoustic signals are only on cars with alarms?

You will need an alarm to get these signals. But you can add a piezo buzzer to your gas door locking circuit. These are sold at Radio Shack. You will get a "chirp" on locking but not unlocking.

I was wondering where those options were also. I probably would never use it but I was curious what the sound would be.

I hope it's not the horn honking...
