R56 Don't sweat bogus temp gage crits
I respect Ian's electrical knowledge. His auto-up window plug-in is some of the best money I've spent on my car.
I inwardly thank him every time I leave a tollbooth or a parking garage. I met him briefly at an Italian Job screening event long ago, and he seems like a great guy, too.
But he didn't say what you're insisting on. Here's what he said:
"once the needle lifts up to approximately normal, it’s pegged exactly at half by the software, unless there is an extreme temperature"
Let's try that one more time.
"Once the needle lifts up to approximately normal, it’s pegged"
Therefore the lower half of the gauge functions exactly as I said it does.
Let me know if you need me to explain further.

Yep... its just a simple temp gauge... no magic here. I really am surprized that MINI dropped it for the R56, especially in the MCS model, with the turbo. I suspect it didn't fit the design parameters of the center speedo cluster, and the bean counters sure didn't complain.
Guys, knock it off. Start treating each other and the other forum members with opinions contrary to your own with respect.
Exactly. We're done with this one too today.
Any other threads that don't need to see the light of day tomorrow?
