I didn't have enough time in it to test the handling, but the braking is as good as the JCW or GP (which makes sense because they are the same brakes and roughly the same weight). I was going from overall drivability and power.

I haven't dyno'ed yet - I plan to against an '06 and a GP, and of course use our standard control methods (coolant temp, IAT, gear, cooling, ambient, etc...). It is going to take some time, and I am not in a rush to get parts to the market - I want our parts to be the best.

The torque numbers are certainly the biggest influence, and as I stated earlier, altitude plays a big role as well.

More to follow...

I'll agree about that for rpms under 5k! from idle to around 5k it pulls as strongly and smoothly as a JCW. and I am only at about 50 feet above sea level. Above 5k rpm- I think the JCW would feel stronger.

I don't want to assume that people don't understand why a supercharger and turbocharger perform differently at altitude, but from reading the comments - you do understand, don't you?

I think Randy can even explain quite a bit about compressors powered by gas turbines at altitude.

With the R53 JCW brakes does that mean that 15" wheels will no longer fit for winter tire choices?

Ran the numbers for 6000 feet, 70 degrees , 30inch , 50%. with this calculator and got less than 80% of normal HP at that altitude. Not sure exactly how much this works against the non-turbos vs. turbos but 80% of a GP's 214 HP works out to 171 and would explain Randy's results.

You can still fit 15's on the R53 with the JCW brakes, you just have to be careful in your wheel selection. The same would apply here.

It will be interesting how the altitude thing plays out because I was also extremely impressed with how fast the 07 was.

Maybe us high altitude guys will be a little more excitable when it comes to the new car compared to our sea-level folk?

You know, when I test drove the R56 MCS the car decidely felt very torquey but honestly I was expecting to be pushed back against the seat when smashing down the gas pedal, but it didn't it. It just delivers power with less drama and no supercharger whine. I still had to work it through the gears.

The torque gives the car a lot of push and gives the sensation of greater speed, but probably you are not going any faster than your everyday R53.

Even Mr. Motoringfile himself admitted that his '05 MCS with the 15% pulley, JCW airbox and SS exhaust feels faster than a stock R56 MCS.

Thanks for your impressions Randy and look forward to seeing what you come up with. Are you still going to work on improvements for the R53?

Oh yeah - I have a ton I am still working on with the R53. Intercooler, the release of the SportBox on Monday, the new WMS exhaust, and rear camber links. I also have a few parts still in testing - the rock guard and the relay guard for racing are in development.

Mind you, I already have a ton of available parts that have been extensively tested and raced with over the years - pulleys, swaybars, etc. I won't stop production on anything for the R53.

I am looking forward to parallel development!

Randy

Where you really? Pushed back in your seat? With 6.8 0 - 60 times?

Wait until the MBCs, TBEs, and flashes hit the market.

These new R56s may finally stand a chance against Chows and his mighty RAV4.
