Fair price?

Are the R90s made by BBS?

Do they come in 17"?

What would be a fair price for a used set?

Thanks.

My wheels are the real deal BBS two piece modular 17" wheels. I have a used set with some curb rash so I have bought several sets and wheels on ebay (I would part with this set for $700). I got the best deals on individual wheels as most people what sets. A fair price for used "real, not imitation R90's" would run from $800 to $1200 depending on condition and if they come with tires. For my new R56 I wanted a brand new set from a Mini dealer, which I found on ebay for $1400 (They list for around $440 each from your local Mini dealer). My 02 MC also has a set in silver and they look awesome

The 16" R94 Bridge Spoke wheel was introduced in October 2005. For the R56, it now has a new mold (EH2+ hump) and is available in white.

Haven't seen a direct answer on this. Does anybody know if R105 for an 06 R53 will fit an 06 GP or an R56? Mini still lists the R105 wheel. The 14MM bolt question is at issue.

Hm. This thread confused me more than it helped, I think...

Will the R56 horseshoe/flame-spokes fit the R50? I'm looking at replacing my 16-inch 5-stars with a set of these. The tires are not the issue - they're already mounted. So I'm primarily concerned with the bolt pattern, yes?

Can you order R56 with older R53 16" wheels?

MINI wheels in general (including R53 versions) seem to have large bolt holes that accomodate 14mm size. GP owners have fitted some R53 wheels without problem. AprilWhine and Bob Ray have even run 16" X-Lites on their GP. The issue for GP was not the bolt size, but clearing the JCW brakes. I can't imagine that R105 would be a problem.

Yes, R56 wheels will fit R50/R52/R53.

Only if the configurator lets you do it. The configurator shows you what you can order from the factory.

The bolt hole on the 2002-2005 wheels is 16mm, even though the bolt is only 12mm. I've measured all 4 of the wheel sets I have, and they are the same: R85, R83, R81, and the rockets. A 14mm bolt easily passes through. I am toldk, but have not measured, that the taper on the 12 and 14 is the same, and if so, an early wheel should fit a 2006 and beyond. However, I am curious if the bolt hole is larger than the 16mm on the cars with 14mm bolts.

Hopefully for those like C4 that have the new gen tires on the older rims, this is just important at the very unlikely of cases and will have no effect on him and his family.

EDIT: From what I could find there is nothing that says a tire needs to be mounted on an EH2+ rim. Some companies even allow mounting on any rim but note that EH2 rims are guaranteed to hold the tire down to 0 PSI. It seems EH2+ is an enhancement to EH2. It's just not clear what the enhancement is.
I would concur that the sidewall is softer with the next-gen run-flats. I took two nails in a week with my R56 and in addition to the tire pressure monitor going off I also noted the tire looked visibly underinflated.

No. At least not from the factory.

anyone with a set of Gram Lights 57Maximum know what size the bolt holes are?....or for that matter, any Gram Lights?

TireRack lists Gram Lights fitting on the previous gen. MCS, but not on the R56.

I hope they do, these are the wheels I've been wanting for the longest time!

I was referring to the MINIUSA online configurator, but the information from the dealer should be the same. I just took a look, and the only 16" wheel for R56 that was carried over from R53 is the 16" Bridge Spoke. The reason is probably clearance over larger R56 brakes on the S. On the R53, the Bridge Spoke was the only OEM 16" that was approved to use with the JCW brake kit.

I see. Thank you.
The reason I asked because I notice 1 item dealer can order but
not available from the online configurator.

I saw some Mini S' on the dealer lot have the 3-spoke sport steering wheel
(w/o the buttons) for $300. I dont think that is available from the online
configurator.

Rumor is that the two spoke wheel has been replaced by the three spoke (without buttons).

That would be nice... I still saw 2-spoke steering Mini S on the lot yesterday
though.

My 16 inch panasport wheels from my old MINI Cooper would not fit the new Cooper S, the lug-bolt holes were too small. I do like those 17inch R90s, but sadly, here in the DC area, the roads are too rough for them. I tried several sets of tires on mine and finally gave up and went to the Panasports.

So, will my October 05 build 2006 MCS accept any of the R56 rims as long as I use my original bolts? The car came with the 17" S-lites.

I'll admit I'm a bit confused on this, but I'm looking to maybe source a set of take-offs from a new car for less that it will cost me to replace my runflats.

Thanks.

All of the new MINI wheels will work on older MINIs. From what I can tell, even the old R50/R53 Mini wheels will accept the larger wheel bolts. The late 06's have the 14mm bolts, and my wife is running holies for winter use that are off an 05.

Thanks for the update on the R90 fitment for the R56. I am trying to convince my CFO (wife) that the R90s are just what she needs for her '08 MCS, Dark Grey, she thinks their too busy... Still working on her.

BTW your R90s are hot on your R56

How about some aftermarket BBS?

Fit nice and look OEM but very distinctive. :-)

I totally agree on BBS, my 2004 M3 has BBS 19 inch CSLs for the summer and BBS 18s for the snow, fabulous rims and look awesome.

I really like the BBS RGRs on the MCS, top notch wheel with the commensurate price (you get what you pay for)...

Thanks for the tip, I will change my tack and research BBS.
