There's a thread on mini2 that states the little center-bulge will not be present in the US cars.
And there's a similar discussion on Motoringfile . . . no bulge in North America.

If you like the older style MINI better then stick with or buy and older one.
If you like the newest one then great. At least it isn't boring like the Chevy Cobalt I just rented.

Is anyone else nervous about the light colored steering wheel inserts? I really wonder if that's an invitation to ugly smudges.
