alarm standard

anyone else notice on www.newmini2006.co.uk that it appears that the OEM alarm will be standard? "There are also a host of new innovations, and extra safety and security features as standard, including six new airbags and a remote control alarm"

As someone who has paid for an OEM alarm in his Cooper and an OEM alarm in his Cooper S Cabrio, let me be the first to cry FOUL!

An alarm doesn't seem like something I need. I'd just as soon they left it as an option.

I noticed that, too.

But someone pointed out to me earlier that the UK standard options and package combinations (Chili Pack, Pepper Pack) will not necessarily be a reflection of what we get here in the US.

Factory alarms are great. You get the insurance credit, and you don't have to mess with the goofy whooop-whoooop-bleep-bleep-yaadoo-yaadoo-bweeee-bweee-honk-honk alarms that go off at the touch of a feather.
