R56 LIVE from PARIS (photographs)
Actually, I was referring to the slurs and personal attacks....
I have no problem with someone telling us what they think about the car...

yeah, no one should get that worked up over a car for sure
... You'd think he has stock in the company. I too am not enjoying the looks of the new 'stock' Mini.... but you know what, that's what tuners are for
... to differentiate me from the non-waving normal (stock) Mini owners
...oh and not that i'm getting one or anything. I like my '06 just fine. I'll let them work out the bugs and clean up that console before I begin to really look at one.

Hey they bleeped out part of my message. Well since dwdyer seems like such a knuckle head let me clue him in on what was edited out of my reply to his snippy little remark. You probably drive like the five letter word for describing a lady dog. Actually not to call anyone out but if you like the concept and idea of a bigger mini you probably drive like a lady dog too. Sorry to hate but you guys are probably the punks that drive in the left lane on the highway going the same speed as the slow *** hole on the right of you. Get some ***** or get out the fast lane or better yet sell your car and ride a bike.
Name calling is so uncool!
Your post is very vitriolic brg and uncalled for!
If you're trying to make a point, there are better and more diplomatic ways to do so. Now, take a deep breath, relax and count to ten... You'll feel better.
I only referenced the car because if the new Mini wasn't getting bigger, taller and a softer suspension then we may not of had the name calling in the first place.... In other words no one should be getting so worked up over a car...(added line) as to start name calling
..How's that?
Boy... and I was worried my discussion with clarkdr81 on another thread could be misinterpreted as pushing the limits here. Apparently, we weren't even close!
So, uh... gee... has anyone seen any new pics of the Paris Auto Show?

I know, its become personal in these parts. I think people might start throwin down around here...P.S. my MINI is better than your MINI
I think there's still some hope, though.
As I've said... the right wheels, a little drop... and some tint will go far:

Now that's more like it!

I think the JCW kit really makes it look a lot meaner. I like it. Speaking of mean, check out this car.

I think I really like it. Looks pretty bad @$$!
But like I was saying, certain mods will take care of some of the toy-like looks of the R56.

I don’t know specifics or measurements but I totally agree!!! The front-to-rear taper of the window height seems more acute on the R56, which I find extremely appealing!
This is an excellent point. Personally, I have no interest in a bad-a** MINI....none....not my thing. It's all a bit cliche to me. But those who do have tended to pursue mods to that end anyway....many w/ great results!

It does look good, but has two things going against it.
1. It's a Peugeot
2. It's a Peugeot
Also, how long do you think that pseudo-Pontiac beak would last if you parked on the street?
NOTE TO AUTOMAKERS: If you're going to make a video of your car, let us listen to the car not some cheesy music. If its a good car the engine should be the soundtrack
The current MINI is "visually" low enough, but the look of the R56 with what appears to be a higher beltline would benefit a lot from being lowered. That and a set of 18" wheels would look so-o-o hot. 18"s aren't practical where I live, but I can dream can't I?
You may be right! For me it is so hard to make a call like this w/o actually seeing it/studying it in person. I'm pretty sure I won't be lowering my own R56 MINI (it'll be a Cooper), but if the height on R56 is the lowest it can be legally (according to MINI2...in the EU, I suppose) then here in the U.S. is may be perfectly reasonable to lower it.
Well what can I say ,almost 4000 views and 160 comments since this thread was started on Thursday..most of them good I may add Do some folks hate change (reminds me of when the newmini was introduced here in the UK ) most classic owners hated us newmini owners, (I had a classic as well years ago) The new mini his here to stay like it or lump it my friends ..will we see anti R56 stickers plastered on the backs of mini's , I think not ,I hope not . If you dont like it ...dont buy it, simple as that freedom of choice is a great thing .There will lots of previous minis for sale for many a year to come if you don't likr it ..Ive had FOUR minis since the introduction of a wonderful car ...it only gets better by the years. My present one the JCWS is out of this world in the terms of driving and fun for a small car ,so lets not be harsh on the new model .I have to decide if I buy a GP or hang on till the R56 is on the road ...lets all do the same , as judgement day will soon be here . Ok rant over ....I wonder what the 3040 think that did not reply .
When I open the windows, I'm reminded very much of a classic MINI...and that wins me over almost immediately. R56, along with being consistent with the design direction of R50/53, has also apparently taken another look back at the classic Mini for design inspiration. That's a very, very good thing. Wouldn't want R50/53 regurgitated all over again....a fresh approach, still rooted in the Mini heritage is welcome, I think. Although I admit the interior has it's strengths and weaknesses to my eye, overall I think they did very well. The larger speedo, the tri-level dash, the doors....yes, there's lots for me to like here.
I found video
of the coolest MINI configurator

That's the problem with communicating by text....Oh I know what you meant, I guess I wasn't clear.

alpinamike........fascinating video!!! Wow!! Interesting how the lines in the bonnet are now the guides for placement of bonnet stripes. Interesting perspective on the interior, too....I felt right at home!
Makes me wonder how much our discussions may change when we actually get to see the car in person.
