Very cold here, very slow cranking, checked battery, it's five years old, local NAPA will have one tomorrow.
As I recall, after replacing the battery, there is some sort of a reset routine required???
If so, what do I do? Been a long time.
Now that I think about it . . . there may be a function on my code scanner -- select BMW as the vehicle, wait until it reads the VIN, then there may be a selection to reset battery. Sound familiar?
Sounds right, if you have the negative cable like the attached pic then you'll have to code the new battery to your Mini. Just had to do my R58 and F60, two batteries in two months, I shouldn't really complain. I got 10yrs out of the R58 batt and 7yrs from the F60.
There are two separate procedures:1. Coding - required if your new battery has different characteristics compared to the one you are replacing.2. Registration - required if your cable has IBS as mentioned above by @bluonyx.
