Always reset variable camshaft timing adaptations after replacing timing chain?
2012 Mini Cooper N16
For example, if mechanical timing was perfect and no timing-related codes were thrown before and after a timing chain replacement, is resetting adaptations still required?

While my N16 has 99K miles, the old chain was surprisingly tight; the tensioner felt like new; and the timing chain guides were completely intact. After installing the new timing chain kit, as well as a new auxiliary belt, water pump pulley, and PCV diaphragm the engine runs flawlessly as it did prior to the work and no fault codes have surfaced. My assumption is that, before and after timing chain replacement, the DME sees essentially the same engine mechanical timing and therefore does not require adaptation resetting. I'll post an update if issues eventually arise.
