My R56 2013 Mini Cooper came with two big key fobs and a black plastic key.

What is the plastic key for?

It seems similar to the metal keys inside the key fob but it doesn’t match them and won’t open the door. It does fit into the door key hole.

It's a valet key, but it should be the same as the metal key.

Edit: well, maybe. Our first Gen minis came with valet keys like that, but not second Gen or later.

It goes to my sons 2005 Mini which we just sold. No idea of why he kept the key with his 2013 Mini but the new ‘05 owner is coming to fetch it.👍
