Removing dealer (factory?) installed alarm

2009 Cooper S
117,000 miles

The retrofit alarm kit was installed at one point in my car. Today the car alarm goes off while sitting in the driveway unlocked. Heck, it'll go off while driving.

I have spent enough time fooling around with it and just want to remove it.

Would just removing the alarm siren-tilt sensor be enough to disable the alarm (ie: flashing lights and anything else it might try to do) or does it have to be un coded?

My 2nd hand info is an aftermarket (dealer) installed alarm sounds when its battery is low. If this is the case you don't have to remove it just replace the battery. Once you know the alarm brand/model # google to find out about the battery or how others have removed the alarm.

Yep thats the part

But its still might flash the lights. The sensor in the tilt might be bad and worth just to replace it to fix.

I apricate the reply, but $250 for system that I do not want or need and might, or might not, work just isn't in the cards right now.

Hood switch is unplugged and I'll unplug the interior sensor as well. That will be all 3 sensors in the system disconnected. Then see where I'm at.

Thought I'd update this incase someone else comes across this later on.

Removed the sensor and placed the battery on a maintainer for 3 days.
Not sure what did the trick, but there don't seem to be any flashing lights or other alarm issues. Looks like I'll be removing the cowl again to work on some windshield wiper bugs. Maybe I'll try plugging the tilt sensor back in and see if it freaks out again.
