P0013 B Camshaft Position Actuator Bank 1

2009 hatchback 70k miles,
Noticed lagging acceleration power, engine died out coming to a stop sign and irregular/rough idle. Engine light came one and OBD code spit out P0013 "B" Camshaft Position Actuator Control Circuit/Open Bank 1. Researched the fault and forums suggested it was the Camshaft sensor. Went down to AutoZone and picked up Bosch part number 0 232 103 064 for $25 (Oreillys was about $35).

There are 2 camshaft sensors, the sites I visited mostly referred to the 2 positions as Inlet (rear) and Exhaust (forward) and not as bank 1 or 2, anyways I figured out bank 1 is inlet/rear. *also I first replaced the forward one and the problem didn't go away.

Replaced the rear sensor and erased the P0013 code. Drove her about 30 miles today and she seem to ok with no issues other than the P0013 code came back, I erased the code and on the return trip the code popped up again.

Before I go and do another test drive, has anyone had that problem where after replacing the sensor, the car runs fine but the P0013 code returns? Maybe I need to replace both sensors?

On the Mini engines, code P0013 is usually related to the Vanos solenoid, not the position sensor. If you replaced the sensor and the code is still there, replace the solenoid.

Here is one thread for reference

There is only one bank on a 4 cylinder engine. For example, V6 and V8s would have Bank 1 and Bank 2. Bank 1 is always where cylinder 1 is.

The camshaft position sensors are identified as either inlet or exhaust ... not Bank 1/Bank2.

Thanks for that info about inlet or exhaust / not bank 1/bank 2. I'm only reading off what my OBD scanner is spitting out: P0013 "B" Camshaft Position Actuator Control Circuit/Open Bank 1

UPDATE - its been over a week now of daily driving with 100 miles, the check engine light/P0013 has not appeared. No issues and the car is running fine. Perhaps I just had to give it some time for the CPU to reset?
