A few years ago, I was told 3-5K in SoMD. Same color(metallic blue) for the car but front and rear bumpers were a color change(original parts were cracked and donor car was orange).
Ever painted a bedroom? Home Depot has several 'grades' of paint even by one maker. Same applies to auto paints ... the price difference between the 'OK' stuff and the good stuff can be a decimal place OR MORE. In auto-paint some colors (pigments) cost more than others . . . How much prep did the room need?
You can get a simple paint job for a couple of hundred .... it won't last very long but you can get it done every year at that price.
Or you can pay $10,000 and get best quality materials with all the proper prep work including partial disassembly ..... do some prep yourself and lower the cost . . <I went so far as taking classes, buying equipment and finding a spray booth I could use . . >
similar question came up in a 'classic car' rag I read ....
I was thinking that for what I call a OEM paint job $2500 to $3000 sounds about right was quoted $8000 to $10000 I’m not taking to sema show just clean daily driver
Painters (and others) frequently do side work and they typically charge less - it's highly variable. If you have a network of car buddies, ask them if they know anyone. It's often a friend of a friend sort of thing. Good luck.
