Removing Center Vent?

Does anyone know how to remove the vent above the speedo without taking the entire dash apart?

I saw a really cool video of a guy that took it out and added gauge pods to the top of it using 3D printed parts, epoxy glue, and spray paint. I have 3D printed all the parts, I just can’t seem to get the vent out.

Is it held in by plastic clips, screws, or plastic welds? I can’t seem to get it to budge. Maybe I just need to apply more pressure, but I want to check with someone who has done it first.

Thanks for the help!!

Last time i checked it as molded/plastic welded in. You can see the back side in this GP2 dash.

I have seen a couple of people say this, but people have also claimed to pull it out with a bit of force. On places like eBay they sell the piece individually, and it looks like it has clips, but I can't be sure.

On the video I watched it looked like he pulled out the individual part as well.

So it seems to be all over the place according to who you ask. I have a 2013 S if that matters.

Of the several I’ve tried removing to fix mine, they have all been plastic welded in. I’m definitely interested in the replacement pieces though! I had the ideal for my buddy to 3d print something for up there, but I moved away and that project got put on the back burner.

There are two phillip screws that fastens the top vent and it covered by a plastic cap and you need a SHORT STUBBY philips screwdriver to get those out.

those screws hold the speedo surround in, they don’t even touch the vent 😉
