R56 Engine temp
Engine temp
From what I’ve gathered, normal engine temps are somehwere around 200-215F. My car normally stays around the 215 mark. I just recently installed a borg warner airwerks 41mm turbo and I’ve been noticing the temps get up to 218-220. This happens when I “get on it” a little. It will eventually settle back down to 215-216. I’m hoping this is nothing, but can someone help ease my mind before I become totally fixated on watching the temp gauge.
And also, I’m wondering if it’s possible to have it tuned to run cooler. Seems I’ve read that somewhere. I’m getting it re-tuned for the turbo in a couple weeks and may ask about that, if it’s possible.
Thanks for any input!
Oh, and coolant and oil levels are fine, I check both at every gas fill-up

What year is your car? Totally normal for stock coolant temps in the 210° range. Some later cars will switch to 185° in Sport mode, or with the AC on. It is also common for tuners to drop the engine coolant temperature target to 185-190°F. I would just take it easy until you get it tuned.
