Brake fluid change after year Covid and lite use

2013 Mini Cooper S
The standard recommended is for Brake Fluid to be changed after 2 Years or CBS (
Computer Based Service interval). This site says, "get into the habit of changing the vehicle’s brake fluid every two years or 20,000 miles". I've driven 11,000 miles in the past 2 years. Does the brake fluid degrade with time or with use or both? Should I follow the standard or is it safe for me to delay another year? Thank you.

It's more time than mileage. The brake fluid slowly absorbs moisture from the air, and as the water content goes up the boiling point drops and the potential for corrosion increases. So two years is generally the recommended interval.

That said, when I've actually measured my brake fluid moisture content after two years it was still fine, so at least from what I've seen on my cars probably three years would be okay. But I still replace it every two years as it's not that hard or expensive to do.
