R56 Siphoning off fuel from car unused for year+
Siphoning off fuel from car unused for year+
Hi all,
I tried to siphon off gas from my Mini Cooper 2012 S which has been idle in the garage for more than a year, may be 16 months. It is out of battery and I want to replace the fuel by the time the jump start help arrives. I inserted a thick hollow pipe all the way into the fuel tank and it came out dry. It appears that all the fuel has evaporated. Can I check the fuel level without a battery?
I guess I will get 2 gallons of fuel in a can by the time the jump start help arrives.
Any ideas?
Thank you!

Remove the rear seat, and there are access panels to the top of the gas tank. You can gain access to the tank that way if you just want to check if it’s dry or not. If dry, close it all back up and get some gas into the tank.
while your there might not hurt to swap out the fuel filter since you have it out anyway.
