Hello everyone,

Tried posting this yesterday but it does not seem to have worked. In any event, I have a 2012 R56 MCS that makes a noise that sounds like a dragging brake caliper. It's a steady raspy sound. It's not a brake caliper and I'm at a loss for what it might be although I'm worried it might be turbo-related. When I put the stethoscope on the engine, the noise is loudest around the turbo but I'm not completely sure that's where it is from.

So my question is this: is a raspy draggy noise a sound a turbo makes as it starts to fail? Or should I look elsewhere? It's been making the noise for a year, no noticeable impact on performance. Ideas?

Could try pulling the intake off and seeing if their is any shaft play, could also check the vacuum pump as well and make sure its getting a good oil flow since it's in the same area.
