R56 Need opinions please
The car your looking at looks like a great example of a very low millage Mini and with that being said should give you miles of pleasurable drving. I dont know of any cars that dont have some kind of issues and most can be avoided with regular oil changes and keeping up with maintenance.
Seriously you think the problem is me when after "Jason Cornelius " made the comment about Dont let the haters turn you away . And I agreed with him. You went after me.

It's not "out of nowhere", it's pretty well documented at this point that unless you are meticulous with maintenance the N14 is just not very reliable. It's a 10 year old car with 40k miles, which admittedly isn't a lot for the age. Did it sit around for several years? Did the oil get changed every 5k/yearly or every 15k/3 years? Plus this car is right at the end of the multipleextended warranties for commonly replaced parts. I never said it was a bad car. But when OP asks what I think of the car, it would be a disservice not to mention that I think that it's a car with the potential to have a lot of expensive issues. Quote:
And that is what you said using my quote. So who is attacking who first? Bombardier you just seem like the type of person that aways thinks he is right and your opinion is the only fact. And would never admit your wrong. And if someone disagrees with you or points out what you said they are attacking you. Your a joke.
Smizila I'm sorry for hijacking your thread with Bombardier it was wrong of me, but sometimes people like him are just hard to ignore. Hey NAM,
im in search for my 2nd Mini, I had. 06 MCS and been looking at getting a R56 and found this sounds like a good deal, 2010 sparkling silver MCS with redwood red lounge interior with 40k miles. For only $11k. Looks like it’s a regular MCS with a JCW TUNING kit. What do you guys think?

Since you asked… I was lucky enough to get my 2009 from the original owner who had all the maintenance records since he purchased the car. In the 65k miles prior to me buying it, in addition to the standard oil/filters/wipers/tires/batteries, a couple of keys and some trim items, he had the dealer replace:
Under warranty: HPFP, Aux Water Pump (for the turbo), a/c compressor, and timing chain.
On his own dime: all brakes (twice), main water pump, thermostat assy, radiator hoses, oil pan gasket, valve cover, vacuum pump, wastegate (pressure control valve), CV boot, and the clutch.
Since I purchased it six months and 1,400 miles ago I replaced: Oil cooler seals, the turbo oil supply line, the valve cover (again), the oil pan gasket (again), the driver side seat position sensor, and the radio display. I will also do the intake valve walnut blast cleaning based on my ’08 being extremely carboned up after only 71k miles.
Except for the clutch and brakes (which I assume were driver induced) the rest are things I consider maintenance on the N14 and the joys of ownership as noted above in my previous post.
And yes I would do it all again. Especially for a JCW.

I originally walked away from a 2008 MCS in that color combo (gorgeous by the way) because I feared long term upkeep.
Bought a 2008 R32 instead and it was a great car but not without its quirks.
A couple years back I stumbled upon my 2013 JCW Clubman with 10k miles and im glad I snapped it up but still do expect that the N18 will need its share of maintenance/repairs sooner than later...
The car in the ad is beautiful!!! Carfax look good? Any consistent maintenance data logged on there?
If its had at least an oil change each year (doubt it logged many miles) and has never had any paintwork ect, id jump on it!
plenty of DIY guides to save you money, or just be prepared to pay someone to work on it. Its tight in the engine bay for some jobs so you’ll pay more for labor than on simpler cars but id say its worth it!
