Delphi coils: Are there two versions?

I ordered "Genuine BMW" ignition coils from a reputable site, part 12137575010.
I received Delphi 12138616153.

I've read that Delphi is one (or the) supplier to Mini for ignition coils. I've also read that 12138616153 supersedes 12137575010.
Thus I find it credible that I might have received suitable "Genuine BMW" ignition coils with a newer part number.

What's perplexing me is that I see both Genuine BMW 12138616153 ($68 each) and Delphi 12138616153 ($26 each) on the same websites. I've also seen Delphi with this part# as OEM Mini on other sites for around $68.

Are there two versions of the Delphi ignition coils though both have the same part #?
Is one better than the other? How can I tell if I got the right Delphi 12138616153 coils?

These ignition coils were shipped to me from a BMW dealer according to the site I ordered from (FCP Euro).

Hello,

12138616153 is the newest part number. The 010 is the older part number. Delphi had some revisions and the newest ones have the multiple step of white insulation verse the older design. Found this out when we were looking at the old and newer version.

If you need anything else i am here, I have multiple MINI and have changed all kinds of parts on them.

Just use our drop down and you will find the correct parts for your MINI year. Some sites mix up the years and models.

Thank you very much, ECS Tuning. It’s great to get your definitive response. I see on your site for these Genuine Mini coils that your pictures show they are Delphi on the rubber boot. Same as I got.

While I got responses from where I bought, the person responding couldn’t tell me with certainty that I got the right coils though they were willing to order and check what they got versus what I got. Good intentions.

I’ll shop again at ECS in the future. I’ve bought several times before from ECS for my BMWs.
