Should I buy JCW
hey so I was thinking of picking up a 2010 JCW Hatchback.
it has 100,000 miles
my other option is a 2007 bmw 3.0si.
I was wondering if you guys could give me input as to why I should pick the Mini.
I want to mod the mini and attempt to race it locally. I understand stock the 3.0si is faster. But I’m looking for the long term which one will be faster and cheaper to mod.

Hello and welcome. I would just make sure that MINI Cooper JCW N14 engine was taken care of on the MINI and the thermostat, oil lines, timing chain, and carbon blasting has been done. Other then that make sure the clutch is good, but if you will track it then you will be doing a clutch and new turbo anyway. As for cheaper then a 3.0si, that's a no, as for more fun and a better driver, then I would say yes.

Solid advice and it would come down to which car has been maintained better for me. Having turned a wrench on both engines myself, I find the mini a lot easier to work on and the parts a lot cheaper (not talking mods and upgrades, just basic maintenance items). The mini is by far more fun to drive. My '11 MCS is the least expensive car in our family but the most fun to drive.

Is the bmw an x3 or X5? Does not matter really, neither is in same stratosphere as the mini. Mini more fun to drive, but as a daily the bmw will be more practical and comfortable. Plenty of data for dealing with issues in both and they both have issues.
As stated, I’d go for the better maintained car with the most common failure parts replaced. If getting the least troublesome car is your top criteria.
